Masters Hockey

Masters Hockey caters for women (30 years+) and men (35 years+) interested in playing against players and teams of a similar age.  The local competition takes place on Wednesday/Thursday evenings during the summer months (October to March; no matches over the Christmas holiday period).  Teams are always after additional players and there is a desire to grow the competition through the introduction of additional teams.  Interested players are encouraged to contact a club or the Canterbury Hockey office.

Playing in this competition is a pre-requisite for selection into Canterbury teams to compete at the Hockey New Zealand National Masters Tournament in March of each year.

2011/12 Canterbury Masters Hockey

2012 Canterbury Masters Post-Christmas competittion for men and women will again be delivered from either or both Nunweek Park and Marist Park @ St Bede's and will commence for Division 2 Men and Women and Division 1 Men on Thursday 26 January, with Division 1 Women commencing the following week on Thursday, 2 February.

2011 Canterbury Masters Pre-Christmas Competition

The 2011 Canterbury Masters Pre-Christmas competition for men and women was delivered at Nunweek Park, 240 Wooldridge Road, Harewood and Marist Park at St. Bede's and began on Wednesday, 5 October (& Thursday, 6 October) for the men, and Thursday, 13 October for the women.

2012 Canterbury Masters Representative Information
In 2012, the following men's and women's masters teams likely to be entered into the National Masters Tournament (4-12 March, 2012 in Palmerston North/Levin) are:

Women's 35+
Women's 40+
Women's 45+, and
Women's 50+ (possibly combine with Tauranga).

Men's 40+
Men's 45+
Men's 50+
Men's 55+, and
Men's 60+

Teams are subject to sufficient numbers of players.
