Badminton Victoria was formed in 1932 and is the peak governing body for Badminton in Victoria. It comprises 55 affiliated clubs and has 5,500 registered players. Badminton Victoria is governed by a voluntary Board of Directors and is supported by six paid staff. Like most sports, Badminton Victoria is heavily reliant on the contribution of volunteers to manage clubs, associations, competitions and events.

Badminton Victoria has four key roles:

· To promote and develop participation in Badminton

· To provide assistance, by way of advocacy advice, leadership, programs and resources to Associations, clubs, members and players to govern and develop the sport of Badminton

· To provide pathways for players to reach and succeed at a state and national level

· To administer the state training, tournaments and representation of Victorian players in state and national competitions.

Vision Statement

Badminton is recognised as a fast, exciting sport for all ages and abilities that is played in most schools and leisure centres and many purpose built facilities in regional Victoria and Metropolitan Melbourne.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to become:

· An efficient, effective and accessible organisation responsive to change

· An organisation known for its leadership and commitment to engaging and developing all levels of the sport

· An advocate for members, players, clubs and associations, officials and coaches

· The primary source of information and promotional resources about the sport of Badminton in Victoria

To develop;

· The sport of Badminton into a sport with over 20,000 members

· Pathways from social participation to state competition in junior, senior, veteran and wheel chair games

· 20% of social players into members in 5 years
