Questions Asked

Can I book courts at Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre through Badminton Victoria?

Carolyn @ Badminton Victoria

Unfortuntely you cannot. You need to contact the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre on 9926 1555 to book courts.

Why don't we see Badminton in the media?

Sarah @ Western Suburbs.

It is unfortunate that we do not see Badminton more in the media, though this is not for want of trying. Because Badminton is considered a minor sport, other sports like Cricket, Football, Motor Racing, and Tennis take precedent.

Regional newspapers and local Newspapers are often the best way for Badminton to be seen in the media. If your club or Associaiton is holding a tournament or would like to get Pennant results in the media, it is worth contacting your local paper and speak to the Sports Editor or Sports Journalist. They are often looking for local sports that are a little different.

I want to compete with other people/team. what should i do? do I have to join a badminton club to be able to do that? if so, what are the procedures?

Hien - Social Badminton Player

There are two ways you can get involved in Badminton competition. The first way is to join an Association. Most Associations runs regular weekly competitions that you can be apart of. The structure of these varies from Association to Association. You can find a list of Associations on our website.

Alternatively you can keep an eye on our calendar and enter the tournaments that occur on their. These are generally held on weekends and are not played as regularly as Association tournaments, although the standard is generally higher as they are Open and Graded. Entry forms are downloadable from our website also.
