In 2008, Badminton Australia reviewed the High Performance Program. This resulted in a National Squad which trains at a centralised National Squad Training Centre (currently based at MSAC) under the guidance of National Squad coaches. The program also supports athletes who are not based in Melbourne on certain agreed conditions.
The focus for 2010 is the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in October. All efforts will be placed on resources to ensure we gain the best possible result at these Games.
All athletes wishing to be considered for the National Squad, (including Melbourne, regional and interstate based players) should:
Ø Complete the Application Form and return to Badminton Australia no later than Friday 27th November 2009.
Ø Be a current financial member of a State Association.
Decisions on the squad selection will be at the sole discretion of the National Coaches. There will no squad trials this year but National Coaches will reserve the right to invite players who they need to observe more closely to selected squad sessions in early February 2010.
NB: Failure to submit an application will be interpreted by BA as a lack of interest and hence you will not be considered for a place on the Senior National squad in 2010.
Please note that whilst all current National Squad members will have their position reviewed by the National Squad Coaches they still need to complete an application form.
The first round of offers will be distributed no later than mid December 2009.
