News of Liz Cambage's brush with royalty has swept media outlets all around the world, with images of Queen Elizabeth II marveling at the stature of the 203cm Cambage circulating widely.
Cambage was invited to meet Her Royal Highness at a reception function held at Parliament House last Friday evening, the formal request for her attendance coming directly from the Office of the Prime Minister.
The meeting made headlines in the UK, New Zealand and the USA, in addition to Australia, with Cambage, in typical fashion, taking the hype in her stride.
She said the Queen looked up at her and said "you must be a basketball player". "I said, 'How can you tell?' and the Queen replied, 'You must find it very easy'. We had a little chuckle."
