Game 1 Vs WA

Bit of a rude awakening with WA scoring in the opening minutes which geed the girls into action. Sarah and iImie were tenacious in their tackles; Rach was driving forward and Claire ob was being inventive. The workrate rose and Vics pushed wa into their half. One nil at half time. The vics took the game straight to the westerners in the opening exchanges and came u trumps with a well taken goal from Nicole - the result of great passing and a visionary ball in. This rattled wa who then stepped up a mark; some great keeping from caroline kept them at bay but persistence paid off and they took the lead with  a field goal. Realizing that vic had stepped back wa fired three goals in a short period of time that phased the vics. A final goal towards the end put the three pints to wa. A game where the vics had some moments to shine but also areas to work on - the scoreline not really reflecting the effort

Game 2 Vs NSW

A determined team effort set the pace in a battle of the midfield. Some good work with probing forwards in Micky and Nicole. It took 17 mins for nsw to break the deadlock scoring through a pc. Nsw hit again twice shortly after but vic showed resiliency and kept going. Good tackling from Immy and cunning link up play in the midfield took the gane to the blues. 3 nil down at half time but heaps of promise. The vics came out blazing and got back in the running with a well worked pc that Nicole finished off. With the celebrations still ringing in our ears nsw hit back. Some great determination showed through with Shaylah, Sarah and rachael working hard to shut down and create opportunities. But nsw were eager and pressing converting two more goals. Vic kept work and with 15 secs on the clock entered the dee with the ball going over the line on the Final hooter.

Game 3 Vs QLD

On the pitch and warm up. Great intensity warm up with good accompanying vocals. Game on. Qld took first rewards catching vic napping but then the vic flighting spirit shone through. Midfield engagement kept the game alive with vic getting agonizingly close. Qld snook another and vic bounced back with vengeance. Just reward for the vics came with Brittany piping a cheeky goal away on the post. Fired up qld threw everything at Victoria. Unfortunately we lost little terrier Sarah with an eye injury - Thank you for the attention she recieved. Qld pressurized and popped another away with vics 3  1 down at half time. The second half was sheer determination from the vics. Qld tried to counter but hadn't counted on the ground and secured tackling of immi, confident keeping from Caroline and work rate from Ellie. Vics pressed through Emma, Eliza and Micky and got qld rattled. Claire ob dominated midfield, Nicole was inventive up front and rachael ran her socks off. What a great team effort from those on the pitch and on the bench.

Game 4 Vs TAS

A later game and so time to kick back a little. Morning tea all packed and off to catch the ferry fromsouth Perth to Perth. Saw a dolphin on the crossing. Little walk morning tea and back across on the ferry. Off to the ground fir game on with Tassie. An intense start from the vics piling pressure on the tassie defense. Patience is a virtue and it paid off with Micky putting the ball in the net. Vics continued to push with Rach, Claire and Nicole driving through the midfield forward line. Alice was unduly troubled in goal but maintained vocal support. So one zip up at half time. The second half saw vic making penetrations into the dee and securing short corners but tassie held strong. Ash was driving the left, Ellie running back and the reappearance of Sarah was most welcome. Tassie defended hard and also pushed vics calling on Caroline to make some fine saves. The final whistle was exciting with the girls singing their song very loud!! Quick snack after ice baths and even an ice cream disappeared!  Off to kings park for amazing BBQ. Thank you ray anne les and Donna. Great views of the city and time to relax. Time to recharge tomorrow on the rest day.

Game 5 Vs NT

The rest day held many adventures and so back to hockey! Morning walk and dodgeball! Time to chill,  domestic duties with reward! Poor Scotty now has the smoothest legs in the west thanks to the girls! Time to put game head on and watch a well drilled act beat nsw. Game on for vic against nt.  An anticipated match from both sides. Vic tried to lead from the off but nt made it hard for the mighty v. A well taken short corner from nt put them a goal up. Vic retaliated scoring through Nicole. Vic pushed with ash and Eliza; alice made some timely saves and Immy was making it hard for nt to break throu with tenacious tackles. From the whistle the game was ground out in midfield. Vics did the hard work but returned the ball to nt and were unable to capitalize. Nt kept pressing but hadn't put Sarah in their plans who broke down attack after attack. Some resolute keeping from Caroline kept the game to a draw. Ellie was running back well with great support from Claire ob. Nt kept up the pressure and were rewarded with a winning goal. Vics pushed to the end demonstrating the fighting spirit but it was too little too late. Well done nt on the win and not the vics finest game - al the more reason to come out hard tomorrow. Ice baths, cool down and catch up time. Back to the ranch with bit  of excitement  in form of a burnt car on freeway. Dinner and bed. Beauty and geek entertaining!!!

Game 6 Vs SA
Friday was an early start and a big game against SA. Vics were on fire and secured a short early on that Ellie popped in. A visionary ball from hard working Nic found Immy on the right post game on. SA decided to mount an attack and scored through a deflected short corner. Vics hit code blue and moved the ball quickly to a startled sa defense.  Patience is a virtue and it came off with two goals in quick succession. One from the effervescent Micky and a follow up from electric  Eliza. Four one at half time. Sa came out fighting but the mature defense of rachael, Shaylah and Ellie held water tight. Caroline was called on and was resolute in her work keeping a clean sheet. Ash linked well with britt to press the sa defense. Eliza was on the end of a fine team move to increase the score line. A mighty fine team effort with sterling defense, inventive midfield and finesse on the forward line. Good job vics. Time to hit the changing rooms and meet the special guest - not Justin Bieber britt - squeals hit unsafe working decibel levels as the girls saw Heidi. Ice baths lunch and catch up. Back to base and off out to shop till we drop. Markets in freo - snakes and koalas and ice cream. Paddle on the beach and out to tea in freo. A trip on the ferrish wheel in very windy conditions wonderful fun but even better to get off. Back to the ranch and chill.

Game 7 Vs ACT

Last day with early walk and breaky. Marathon tidy up with some rooms competing for best in hotel title. A rewarding cool off. Off to the pitch. Great warm up. An even encounter as each team sized each other up. Act took up the challenge and put the first goal on the board. Rattled vic hit back through a well worked short corner completed by britt. Alice made some great clearances and dougie timely tackles.   Soph was playing a stormer along with eliza  Just before half time act took advantage with a deflection to take the lead.  After the whistle act dominated and took the game to 3 1 but the vics were not down. Sarah ran hard, Nic was creative and Ellie frustrating for sa. Micky was on hand for a cheeky goal to rally the vic players, bench and supporters. Vic dug deep and stepped up through the inspiring Nic, resilient rachael and determined dougie. Emma sent a seeking ball into the dee for britt to convert. With a minute on the clock vics held tight despite some last ditch act attack. A three all draw on the final whistle and a great way to complete the week. Catch up with victorian ais player ash wells and photo opportunity  So the vics finished sixth. Most improved was Caroline and best and fairest  was Immy. The winners ware the whole team vic parents, players and coaches who have represented the state so well all tournament. Catch up with parents and final ceremony. Some great gifts from the girls.   A great week made of memories.
