The Jayco Australian Opals will face stiff competition on their journey toward a fifth consecutive Olympic Medal, following the draw for the Womenís and Menís tournaments in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The Opals will face Brazil, host nation Great Britain, joint world number two Russia and two qualifiers in the first round of the tournament. In a boost the draw saw the Opals avoid a match-up with reigning Gold Medallists the USA.
In what is sure to be a memorable tournament the Opals will get their first taste of Brazil ahead of the Olympics as part of the Farewell Series: Basketballís Road to London in June.
