15 WNBL players named in Jayco Opals training squad

From left:Liz Cambage from Bulleen, Adelaide's Suzy Batkovic alongside West Coast Waves star RohaneeCox and Dandenong's Jenn O'Hea have all been named in the 20-player squad for the next Jayco Opals training camp.

Basketball Australia has announced the Jayco Australian Opals camp details for May, including the list of 20 athletes who will take part in the upcoming camp at the Australian Institute of Sport from Monday 14 May until Friday 18 May, 2012.

A whopping 15 WNBL players have been named in the squad, headlined by WNBL MVP Suzy Batkovic, Dandenong WNBL Championship duo Jenna O'Hea and Kathleen MacLeod, soon-to-be four-time Olympian Krist Harrower and Bulleen trio Liz Cambage, Rachel Jarry and Sam Ricahrds.

Overseas-based stars Lauren Jackson, Laura Hodges (nee Summerton and Natalie Hurst will provide quality and experience in what shapes as a pivotal part of the Opals London preparation.

The Jayco Opals May training camp schedule will be split into two blocks, with 20 athletes heading into the first five days of training from May 14.

Following the conclusion of the first week of training on Friday 18 May, the Jayco Opals coaching staff will make selections for a reduced squad ahead of Camp 2, which commences on Monday 21 May, 2012 and will run until Wednesday, 30 May 2012.

The Jayco Australian Opals have won Silver at the last three Olympic Games, and following a fifth place finish at the 2010 FIBA World Championship, they are setting their sights on continuing a long and proud history of the Jayco Opals program, by returning to the podium in London in 2012.
