Capitals Head Coach Carrie Graf calls for people to join the dedicated team of volunteers for the 2012/13 season and beyond.

Dear Capitals Community,

Last season was full of challenges, both on and off the court but that’s only made us come back stronger and hungrier to return the Capitals to be the pride of the Canberra community. The Capitals has invested in our players, our club and our sport and we’re committed to bringing back another championship to our home community.

To do this, we have formed a management group, of industry professionals and experts who will lead the off-court transformation. However they cannot do it all by themselves and we need committed volunteers to get involved in areas such as Marketing, Game Operations, Community events and Commercial activities. So if you have the drive and passion and want to be a part of the Capitals success, then we need you on board as a part of our team. We know we have a championships winning formula and that formula includes you.

2012 promises to be a big season for the Capitals. After a year of rebuilding, hard work and preparation we’ve become the serious finals contender that the Canberra community has come to expect from the Capitals and we are determined to not let you down and deliver. We’re excited about what’s to come, and we want you to be involved. We can undoubtedly expect improvement from within our strong playing group – following injury-free seasons from some of our key performers, and the further development of our promising young local talent. We know 2012 is going to be an even better year for the Capitals – the depth in our playing roster and the addition of the best player in the world will ensure we continue to move forward. There’s a steely resolve in all of us, but we need your support to galvanise us as we prepare to fight for another championship.

The return of Lauren Jackson to Canberra is a once in a lifetime opportunity, not to be missed and is an exciting time for women’s sport in Australia.

This is the time to get involved. So show your commitment and jump on board as a volunteer with the Capitals.

Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we can also ban you and report you if things get out of hand.
